Grant supports bird habitat efforts

Note: This article was first published in the Spring 2005 edition of INHF's quarterly magazine.

INHF Program and Planning Associate Marlene Ehresman will present several neotropical migratory bird workshops in conjunction with INHF's partners in the Blufflands Alliance. The next workshop is June 11 aboard the Lilly Belle, a boat operated by Audubon Upper Mississippi River Campaign, in Dubuque. More information about these workshops is available on INHF's website.
Thanks to a new grant, several INHF projects that protect neotropical migratory bird habitat in the Mississippi River basin area are taking flight.

The $38,000 grant is administered by the Iowa DNR Forestry Bureau and the Upper Mississippi Forestry Partnership and funded by the USDA Forest Service.

It will support three major programs:

  • Educational workshops on protecting bird habitat
  • Reprint of A Bird’s Eye View, INHF’s popular guide to managing and protecting land for bird habitat
  • Restoration of bird habitat at several key INHF sites in the Upper Mississippi River basin area
