Central Iowa Trail Network

Trail facts:

Length: 460 miles (multiple trails, not all connected)
Surface: asphalt & concrete
Counties: Polk, Dallas, Guthrie, Greene, Boone, Story, Marshall, Jasper, Marion, Warren, Hardin
Major trails within the system: Raccoon River Valley Trail, Chichaqua Valley Trail, Clive Greenbelt, Jordan Creek Trail, Four Mile Greenbelt Trail, Great Western Trail, Neal Smith Trail, Heart of Iowa Trail, Summerset Trail, Ankeny-Woodward Trail and many municipal trails
Uses: bicycling, hiking, in-line skating, cross country skiing (in some areas)

Trail description:

The Central Iowa Trail Network is an extensive system of existing and planned trails. It does/will link multiple communities and counties throughout the Des Moines metro area and beyond. Once complete, the project will have two loops totaling 100+ miles each--plus many cross-links, short-cuts and other connections.
