Trail description:
Duck Creek Parkway, serving as the lifeline of the Davenport/Bettendorf park and recreation system, is a 12-mile urban greenbelt located in one of Iowa’s oldest cities. It provides a wide variety of scenic and recreational opportunities as it meanders through native woodlands, wetlands, urban housing areas, two golf courses and eight city parks. The asphalt/concrete surface extends over flat and gently rolling terrain, making it an ideal experience for all age groups. The multi-use trail follows the Duck Creek tributary from Emeis Park, in Davenport, to an area north of Devil’s Glen Park, in Bettendorf.
The Riverfront Trail follows the Mississippi River in Davenport and Bettendorf to Credit Island Park. A segment of this trail circles Credit Island Park.
Across the river in Illinois, the recently-completed Great River Trail now offers 62 miles of hard-surfaced trails, extending from the Quad Cities north to Savanna, Illinois. During the summer, Iowa trail users and visitors can cross the Mississippi River into Illinois on the Channel Cat, a water taxi that holds about 40 people and seven bikes. The ferry can be accessed from the trail at the Village of East Davenport’s landing off River Drive.
