This article first appeared in INHF's Summer 2008 magazine.

Working on the land and inside the office, INHF’s summer 2008 interns helped protect Iowa’s wild places.

Nine “outdoor” interns worked to maintain prairies, oak savannas and other natural areas at 22 sites in 14 counties. INHF owns some of these sites, while others belong to private owners who permanently protected their land through INHF or are in the process of transferring it to public ownership.

NIcole Cammarata, graphic design; Stacie Bendxen, communications; and Holli Brown, program support/grant writing.

The “indoor” interns worked at INHF’s Des Moines office. Their duties included writing press releases and articles, designing the calendar and brochures, researching and writing grant proposals, and more. Our law intern researched the use of zoning ordinances to protect Iowa’s blufflands.
