For Your Reading Pleasure

INHF has supported publication of
three new books on Iowa conservation themes:

A Bird's Eye View
By INHF
staff member,
Marlene Ehresman
A Bird's Eye View, by INHF staff member Marlene Ehresman, tells why and how to protect neotropical migrant birds, especially along the key Mississippi River flyway. "Neotrops" nest in the United States and Canada but spend winters in the tropics-so they face habitat loss on two continents. Contact INHF for your free copy of the 8-page version (contains numerous color photos) or the 52-page detailed version (includes 8-page insert). Or download it from www.inhf.org/neotropbook.htm.

Sylvan T. Runkel:
Citizens of the
Natural World
By Larry Stone and
Jon Stravers
Sylvan T. Runkel: Citizen of the Natural World, by Larry Stone and Jon Stravers, is a biography of a beloved Iowa naturalist, teacher, conservationist, pilot, musician and coauthor of wildflower guides. INHF played a minor role in the book's production, handling the private donations that helped support this project. With 167 pages and 90 photos, the book sells for $15 (tax included) plus $2 for shipping. To order, contact Larry Stone at 888-807-1828 or lstone@alpinecom.net.

Renewing the Countryside-Iowa
Renewing the Countryside-Iowa is intended to awaken readers, rural and urban, to successful ventures in sustainable rural development. It contains gorgeous color photos and 38 "success stories" about Iowans engaged in sustainable resource use and community development. It will be available in time for the Iowa State Fair in August. INHF provided financial support and editorial assistance.
