Anglers Bay, Big Spirit Lake
At presstime, more than 500 donors have have contributed to the Anglers Bay project. That’s great news, but we still need to raise another $450,000 in private donations for this $6.67 million project. Once complete, it preserves natural shoreline (2/3 mile!) and the largest remaining bulrush bed on Big Spirit Lake.

INHF internship program
Tim Laehn, a Drake University journalism major, is working as INHF’s communications intern for the 2006-07 school year. Tim assists with our magazine, press releases, website and events. His work is supported by a grant from the R.J. McElroy Trust of Waterloo. INHF will hire nearly a dozen new interns for Summer 2007.

Whitewater Canyon dedication
The Dubuque County Conservation Board publicly dedicated Whitewater Canyon on October 24—with speeches by Iowa DNR Director Jeff Vonk and a representative from the governor’s office. Partners are planning a “fun” public event, complete with guided hikes and canoe trips, in spring 2007.

For more information, e-mail Cathy Engstrom, Director of Communications, or call (515) 288-1846.
