Gift to Iowa's Future Day 2014
On Tuesday, March 11 at the State Capitol, Governor Terry Branstad and legislators recognized 25 individuals, families, businesses and organizations for gifts to Iowa’s future in 2013 in the form of land or land value for conservation.
Fifteen of this year’s honorees worked with the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation in 2013 to find the right options to permanently protect their land for conservation purposes.
“Gift to Iowa’s Future Day is always a highlight for us each year,” said INHF President Joe McGovern. “INHF’s work is always accomplished through partnerships, and our most significant partners are private landowners. Their gifts of bargain sales, easements, and donated property benefit projects on a large scale right from day one. Our work to protect Iowa’s land, water, and wildlife is exemplified by them and through them.”

About Gift to Iowa's Future Day
In 2008, the Iowa legislature designated the first Monday in April as Gift to Iowa’s Future Recognition Day to celebrate and honor individuals, corporations and organizations that permanently protect land for parks, trails, natural areas, fish and wildlife habitat, and other benefits.
This event is hosted by the State of Iowa, with assistance from INHF, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and other conservation partners.
