Partner for the Prairie

Partner of the PrairieWant to experience rolling hills of prairie AND volunteer at the same time? Join INHF for a volunteer day, Partner for the Prairie, at Neal Smith Wildlife Refuge on the morning of July 12th to give back to this special place, and after the work is done, explore the Refuge’s prairie and oak savanna, try to spot roaming bison and elk, and check out the visitor center for educational exhibits and more.

What: The work will depend on what the refuge needs are that day.

Where: Meet at the Prairie Learning and Visitor Center at Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge (9981 Pacific St, Prairie City, IA 50228).

When: July 12th from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (come at 8:30 a.m. for coffee and conversation).

Why: To meet others interested in conservation and prairie restoration and to give back to the land.

Volunteers of any age and experience welcome. Bring work gloves, dress for the weather and be sure to wear closed-toe shoes.
