New
Board Members
Bring
Talent and Diversity
to INHF Board of Directors
Four of INHF's most
dedicated supporters were recently named to volunteer leadership
positions with the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation.
Jan Lovell of Clear
Lake, who had been serving as an INHF advisor, is joining the
Board of Directors. Steve Ballenger of Ankeny, Katherine Linder
of Rockwell City and Kelly Roberson of Des Moines will serve as
new advisers.
Jan Lovell is the vice president and
assistant manager of Clear Lake Telephone Company (CL Tel). She
first became acquainted with INHF in 1992, when she and her family
donated a conservation easement on family property now known as
the Woodford-Ashland Lone Tree Point Nature Area.
"INHF is a wonderful
organization," Lovell said. "Our family had been looking
for years for the right way to preserve our woods. A conservation
easement with the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation was the perfect
fit. It allowed us to retain ownership of the property, and we
know it will be preserved forever."
Steve Ballenger is the Research Planning
Coordinator at Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc., in Des Moines.
He has served as a board member of Generations Incorporated and
is currently a board member of Children and Families of Iowa.
"I've always
been interested in environmental issues," Ballenger said.
"I think it's important to protect what we have for our children
and future generations to enjoy."
Katherine A. (KAP)
Linder works
as a pharmacist at Medicap Pharmacy in Manson, as well as Community
Pharmacies in the area. She serves as a board member of the Twin
Lakes Restoration Association. One of her major projects is an
effort to create a bike trail around Twin Lakes.
"I'm just going
to be a ready solider," Linder said. "Whatever needs
to be done, I am willing to help. This is something I genuinely
believe in."
Kelly Roberson is the editor of The
Iowan magazine, which is headquartered in Des Moines. She
was an INHF communications intern in 1991 and will bring a youthful
perspective to the INHF board.
"I don't think
anyone else in the state is doing the kind of work that the Iowa
Natural Heritage Foundation does," Roberson said. "Without
INHF, we would live in a much different state than we do."
