Gifts
of Cash
How
could I benefit from making a cash gift?
Giving cash is an
easy way to show your support for the Foundation's projects.
A cash gift can also
be a flexible way to split a gift, with one portion designated
for the endowment and another portion designated as an annual
gift.
Giving cash can also
make you eligible for a charitable deduction for income tax--up
to a maximum of 50% of your adjusted income, with five years to
carry over any excess. This charitable deduction actually reduces
the out-of-pocket "cost" of your gift when it comes
time to pay your taxes.
FOR
EXAMPLE, a cash gift of $1,000 "costs"
you only $690 if you are in the 31% income bracket. Otherwise,
you would be paying income taxes on the full $1,000. (You'll need
to itemize deductions on your tax return to claim this charitable
deduction).
Where
do I begin?
Simply mail a check, or ask the Foundation staff to discuss the
gift
and its purpose with you.
