INHF helps expand parks for Spencer & Clay CountyThis article first appeared in INHF's Summer 2005 magazine. At the request of project partners in Clay County, in 2003 INHF purchased a 212-acre site that connects numerous city and county public areas. After raising project funds through the Resource Enhancement and Protection (REAP) program, those partnersthe Clay County Conservation Board and the City of Spencerrecently repurchased this key piece in the park complex they’re creating along the Little Sioux and Ocheydan Rivers. The land is composed of woodland, wetland and prairie areas. It contains segments of both rivers, providing watershed protection and wildlife habitat. It also provides critical links in the existing multi-use trails and an equestrian trail. For more information, e-mail Cathy Engstrom, Director of Communications, or call (515) 288-1846. © Copyright
