The Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation works on a variety of conservation policies at the state and federal level. We provide leadership, educational support and communications assistance for the development of public policies that benefit Iowa's natural resources.

Our policy priorities

• Supporting sustainable funding for Iowa conservation, through programs like Iowa's Water and Land Legacy or REAP
• Creating and supporting Iowa's multi-use recreational trails
  
• Encouraging programs that protect Iowa's water quality while addressing our state's flooding issues
  
• Supporting incentives (such as federal or state tax reductions) to help Iowans protect land with special natural resources
  
• Other policy issues as needed

Conservation policy partners

• INHF is a founding member of the Iowa Environmental Council, an alliance of diverse organizations and individuals working together to protect Iowa's natural environment.
• INHF is a longstanding, active member of the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition.
• INHF is also active in the Land Trust Alliance.
• INHF has been an active partner in Iowa's Water and Land Legacy.
• INHF is a founding member of the REAP Alliance.
