Featured Destinations

The Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation encourages you to experience and enjoy all of Iowa's outstanding natural resources. However, we've developed expanded information on a few special places. Watch this space for future additions.

Iowa River Greenbelt
A 20-mile stretch of scenic river valley tucked among farmland, the Iowa River Greenbelt in central Iowa is home to many natural and recreational features. As the newest "Featured Destination," the Iowa River Greenbelt web pages contain information on what makes the Greenbelt so special, what to do and see while there, and how INHF and others have helped protect this area.

Upper Iowa River
The Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation has helped protect more than 20 sites along the Upper Iowa River over the years--and we have more on the drawing boards. Find out what makes this river so special (in text and photos), how to visit it yourself, how to support future projects here, and more at our special Upper Iowa River section.
