The public is invited to the Practical Farmers of Iowa Field Days on July 18 at the DeCook Ranch, 1145 540th Avenue in Lovilia, from 9 a.m. to noon.The event is sponsored by INHF and will focus on "Wild Land Ranching," hosted by Mike, Dan, Mark and Kay DeCook and Lonnie Essick.
Visitors will learn how the DeCook Ranch uses low-input nature systems and native species to improve wildlife benefits as well as water and soil quality. Topics will range from patch-burn grazing to interseeding native prairie species and protecting land via conservation easements.INHF Land Stewardship Program Director Joe McGovern also will speak at the event.
Beverages and breakfast rolls will be provided.

Directions: From Hwy 5 in Lovilia: Go west on H16 (paved) about 3 miles; pavement ends at the 4-way intersection. Go right (north), and wind around about 2.5 miles. There will be a brown Morton building and a big lone walnut tree just past the drive on the right side of the road.
