Snyder Heritage Nature Walk

Grab your hiking boots and head to Snyder Heritage Farm to experience the prairie in bloom.

INHF Land Stewardship Director, Ryan Schmidt, will lead a guided hike through the prairie, share the Snyder story, point out native plants and wildflowers, and provide insight into past, current and planned restoration. 

No experience necessary. Families welcome!

About Snyder Heritage Farm

For nearly 30 years, Snyder Heritage Farm has been slowly transitioning from a traditional farm to a beautiful blend of prairie, oak savanna, woodland and wetland ecosystems. It is now a 154-acre natural area just north of the Des Moines metro. Snyder Heritage Farm is owned and managed by Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation.

Please bring:

Sturdy shoes or hiking boots
A water bottle
Sun protection
A hiking stick, binoculars, field guide and/or camera, if you like
A love of Iowa's outdoors
