UPDATE: This event has been moved to Sunday, June 3 due to weather and current trail conditions. All activities including food, beer, live music, lawn games, etc. have been postponed until tomorrow as well.
Join Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, Polk County Conservation and REI West Des Moines to celebrate National Trails Day! We will be working to put in and finish new trails around Jester Park's Discovery Pond. After our trail work, we'll gather together for music, food and a pint of Peace Tree Brewing Co.'s Iowa Trail Ale - free to volunteers!

Plan to arrive between 12 and 12:30 p.m. to get signed in and geared up. We'll have a brief safety meeting at 12:45 p.m. Trail work will begin at 1:00 p.m. and go until 4:30 p.m. No experience necessary, all the equipment you'll need is provided. Kids welcome!
Free food, beverages and camping for volunteers! Please email Melissa at Melissa.Schmeling@polkcountyiowa.gov if you are planning to camp. If your family would prefer a family campsite, you may request that as well. We will need to know by May 28. Please indicate if you will be camping that evening at sign-in also.
What to bring:
- Water bottle
- Sturdy boots or shoes that can get muddy
- Hat, work gloves, sunscreen
- All other equipment provided
- No experience necessary
- Families welcome
- You will be asked to sign a liability waiver
- Restrooms on site
