Financial Information

The Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation is a qualified charitable organization and donations to INHF are tax deductible.

At least 90% of each dollar contributed is used for natural resource protection in Iowa. Less than 4% goes toward fundraising, and not a penny leaves the state.

INHF relies totally on direct contributions from individuals, foundations, businesses and organizations to support its operations. We receive no operations support from government appropriations.

The total budget of the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation ranges from $4 million to $6 million per year, depending on the land protection projects involved in the budget in any given year.

We compete for public grant funds for some land projects.
Our 7,000 donors contributed more than $6 million to INHF or its projects in 2004.
Additional revenue comes from reimbursements and no-interest loans for direct land protection projects.
In total, the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation put more than $8 million to work for conservation in 2004.

Our balance sheet and additional financial information for 2002 are published in our 2004 annual report.
