Prairie City native Greene awarded journalism internship

This article was released in June 2010.

Tim Greene, senior at Iowa State University and native of Prairie City, was recently awarded the summer 2010 Robert R. Buckmaster communications internship at the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation (INHF).

INHF is a nonprofit conservation group that works with private landowners and other partners to protect Iowa’s land, water and wildlife. Greene will assist the foundation staff by writing press releases, magazine articles, and assisting with events and other duties.

He expects to graduate from ISU next spring with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication with an emphasis in public relations. Greene received the 2010-2011 Morgan & Myers Employee Scholarship, a multicultural recognition award for academics, a nomination for Student Employee of the Year for his work with ISU News Service and is on the ISU Dean’s List. He is the son of Carroll and Lynda Miller and William Greene.

INHF funds the internship in part by a grant from the R.J. McElroy Trust, in honor of the late Robert R. Buckmaster of Waterloo, one of INHF’s founders.

Past INHF projects in Jasper County include the Vandalia Wildlife Area, Razor’s Prairie, Hartley Heritage Fen and others.  For more information on INHF or the scholarship program, visit www.inhf.org.
