Central Iowa Trail Network

Trail facts:

Length: 460 miles (multiple trails, not all connected)
Surface: asphalt & concrete
Counties: Polk, Dallas, Guthrie, Greene, Boone, Story, Marshall, Jasper, Marion, Warren, Hardin
Major trails within the system: Raccoon River Valley Trail, Chichaqua Valley Trail, Clive Greenbelt, Jordan Creek Trail, Four Mile Greenbelt Trail, Great Western Trail, Neal Smith Trail, Heart of Iowa Trail, Summerset Trail and many municipal trails
Uses: bicycling, hiking, in-line skating, cross country skiing (in some areas)

Trail description:

The Central Iowa Trail Network is an extensive system of existing and planned trails. It does/will link multiple communities and counties throughout the Des Moines metro area and beyond. Once complete, the project will have two loops totaling 100+ miles each--plus many cross-links, short-cuts and other connections.
