Iowa Tourism:
Is this site heaven? No, it’s all about Iowa. But whether you’re an outsider vacationing in the state or a local looking for some little-known treasures, this website is basically all you’ll need. If you’re looking for fun activities, click on the “Things to Do” link, where you can search for attractions, events, landmarks or all of the above by city or region. There’s also information on accommodations, recreational activities and getting around the state. You can also order travel guides, transportation maps and a calendar of events, which get delivered right to your mailbox.

Explore Iowa:
This is one of our pages that gives you more ideas about things to do in Iowa. Here you can find upcoming events, browse through featured destinations and see how INHF has made a difference in counties all across Iowa by looking through our past project records. There’s also an outdoors guide with numerous resources on fishing, hiking, nature reserves and more. Also, be sure to check out our newly revamped Iowa by Trail sites, where you can find maps and contact information on 42 different trails.

Iowa DOT:
Ever complain about traffic? Thanks to the Iowa DOT website and their state map detailing current roadwork and traffic flow, you’ll know which ways to take and which to avoid. There are also weather forecasts, road condition reports during the winter and information on scenic byways. Be sure to request free Iowa transportation maps, bicyclist maps and city and county maps. 

Regional

Eastern Iowa Tourism Association:
This beautifully designed website is especially for the wonders of the eastern Iowa region. You can take a photo tour of the area, check out upcoming events and request a visitor’s guide. Be sure to send your friends an e-postcard!

Western Iowa Tourism Region:
Grottos, food tours, windmills—see them all in western Iowa! This website shows you photos of different towns and areas, including the scenic Loess Hills. There are also suggested itineraries for varying interests including the Famous People Itinerary, the Inspirational Tour and the Natural Encounters Tour.

Central Iowa Tourism Region:
The heart of Iowa is the heart of fun. Check out this website for attractions, dining and lodging ideas. There is also a page for hunting and fishing, with a link to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Make sure you visit the “special offers” special for discounts on certain businesses and services.

Northeast Iowa Tourism:
This site has links to all the counties in Northeast Iowa, with information on dining, lodging, shopping and attractions for each. There’s also a printer-friendly calendar of events to take along when you visit the area.
