Trail description:
The Twin Lakes Trail encircles beautiful North and South Twin Lakes, two glacial lakes in Calhoun County. North Twin is a recreational lake with three state parks, two county parks, water sports, an active sailing association, a restored native Iowa prairie, and a large public campground including 6 beautiful rental cabins. South Twin is largely a wildlife refuge and also the home of the scenic lakeside Twin Lakes Golf Course. Bikers and walkers enjoy all four seasons on the hard surface trail encircling one of Iowa's natural blue water lakes. Lakeside trail portions are spectacular. Outdoor enthusiasts will also enjoy the quiet shared roadway that completes the trail adventure around South Twin Lake.
