New plate supports safe cycling

This article first appeared in INHF's Fall 2007 magazine.

Love to bike? Whether you’re a Lance Armstrong wannabe or just a recreational rider, you can share your love of all things cycling and support bike safety through Iowa’s Share the Road program.

INHF is a member of the Iowa Bicycle Coalition, which is spearheading the sales of specialty license plates that offer drivers a friendly reminder to share the road with fellow bikers. Funds raised by plate sales will go toward educating motorists, bikers and event directors on safely sharing the road, rules of the road and best practices for event safety. The coalition must collect at least 500 pre-sales simply to get the plates created. It hopes to meet that goal by Dec. 1.
