Every acre has a story

This article first appeared in INHF's Spring 2008 magazine.

We could talk about our 2007 accomplishments by the record-setting numbers: 49 sites protected — including 21 private conservation easements and 8,810 acres; 24 sites managed by our land stewardship crew; support from more than 7,000 wonderful members; and $28 million spent on conservation. But mere numbers can’t capture the excitement and emotion underlying these achievements.

Instead, we’d like you to experience this amazing year as our staff and board experienced it: as unfolding stories of beautiful places and inspiring people. In a state like Iowa, where our people and land are so intertwined, we’ve found that every acre has a story.

Here are just a few of our favorite stories from 2007. As members and supporters of the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, you’re part of them all.
