INHF Internships:
Who makes it possible?

Communications intern Julie Collins puts the final touches on a display board used at many INHF events. Julie and other interns helped create and maintain the display materials.
INHF’s internship program depends on the generous support of donors.

Outstanding in that support is the R.J. McElroy Trust, which launched the program and has continued their support for 23 years. By 2008 they will have invested $1 million in young Iowans through this program.

Internships funded by the R.S, McElroy Trust are named after Robert R. Buckmaster, who was a friend of McElroy and the first chairman of the INHF board.

The Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust provided a three-year grant that launched expansion of land stewardship intern opportunities.

The Marlys and Carl Svare family has endowed an internship position at INHF, and another position has just been endowed in honor of the Jon Stravers family.

The Richard S. (Sandy) Rhodes II Fund, established at INHF in 2006, will help support land stewardship interns into the future.

Gifts from Rose Mary Schwent, Iowa landowners who encounter our intern crew, and INHF members who care about young people and education further supplement the program.

The Foundation’s internship program has enjoyed amazing stability and accomplishments — thanks in large part to the steadfast generosity of the people who support it.
