The program support intern is a vital cog in the grant writing and events processes, helping facilitate and provide funding for on-the-ground land conservation with tangible benefits.
Job description
This intern helps research and write grant proposals to fund land protection, works with INHF staff on conservation easement programs, helps facilitate events and provides general program support. The program introduces interns to many leading members of Iowa's conservation community. The program support intern is supervised by Lisa Hein, INHF Program and Planning Director.
Project examples
Program support interns have helped write grants for additions to Stone State Park and protection of the Loess Hills, Upper Iowa River and Wabash Trace Nature Trail. These interns have also assisted with planning INHF events and seminars.
Application info
Applicants must submit a writing sample. In the past, we've hired English majors (especially those with grant-writing experience) with environmental interest and students from environmental and planning fields who have strong communication skills. GIS/ArcView experience is a big plus. Applicants must also submit a writing sample.
Availability
This position is generally 15 hours per week during the school year and full time in the summer. There is some advantage for applicants who can take the position for more than one semester, but one-semester applicants are considered.
