Fairview Wildlife Area Addition

This information was last updated in November 2009.

During the summer of 2008, Sioux County Conservation Board (SCCB) requested INHF's assistance to acquire a 325-acre property with oak savanna near their Fairview Wildlife Area. SCCB successfully raised the almost $1,000,000 acquisition cost of that property in the past year. Now the opportunity has arisen to add an additional 113 acres of oak savanna to the wildlife area.

As with the first addition, SCCB will work to restore the oak savanna and use the area for hunting and low-impact recreational activities. The purchase price of the second addition is $344,000.  SCCB has already identified $100,000 for the purchase including $75,000-$85,000 to come from the Sioux County Sportsman’s Club and $30,000 from the local Pheasants Forever chapter. Sioux CCB will also apply for Habitat Stamp and REAP grants. Private funds are welcomed as well.
