Landowner’s Options: Safeguarding Iowa’s natural resources for the future, 6th edition. Completely revised and updated in 2007, this 52-page booklet outlines many methods of permanent land protection—whether you intend to maintain or transfer ownership. Its colorful format, everyday language and Iowa examples make it a perfect book for Iowa landowner’s, their families and their professional advisors. Updated and reprinted in 2006 by popular demand!  Learn more about the specific needs of Neotropical migratory birds in the Upper Mississippi River Blufflands. A Bird's Eye View: A Guide to Managing and Protecting Your Land for Neotropical Migratory Birds in the Upper Mississippi River Blufflands was written by INHF staff member Marlene Ehresman and originally published by INHF in 2003.

Woodland Health: Stewardship Options for Iowa Woodland Owners was written by INHF staff member Cheri Grauer and published by INHF in 2004. This 32-page booklet provides a holistic view of caring for Iowa woodlands--from the top of the canopy to the woodland flowers and wildlife below. Chapter topics include the history of Iowa woodlands, controlling invasive plants, avoid fragmentation and much more.

A recent biography of Sylvan Runkel provides insights into the heritage and experiences that shaped this Iowa naturalist's life.

Renewing the Countryside-Iowa is intended to awaken readers, rural and urban, to successful ventures in sustainable rural development. It contains gorgeous color photos and 38 "success stories" about Iowans engaged in sustainable resource use and community development. Published in 2003, it is now on sale for $20 for paperback and $30 for hardcover. INHF provided financial support and editorial assistance.

A Practical Guide to Prairie Reconstruction
A guide to reintroducing tallgrass prairies to landscapes, written by noted expert Carl Kurtz.

Iowa: Portrait of the Land
A beautifully written and illustrated, full-color, 90-page book about Iowa's land and natural resources. The book was written and published by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources for Earth Day 2000. INHF provided some funding and distributed free copies to each of our then-members. Now, anyone can read the on-line version.

Attracting Iowa Wildlife on Private Lands
This booklet presents measures Iowa private landowners can take for improving the wildlife habitat on their property.

Iowa's Wild Places
A photographic journey through Iowa's natural areas, written by noted naturalist and photographer Carl Kurtz.

Remember Iowa Natural Heritage, the coffee-table book published by INHF in 1982 about Iowa's natural resources? Do you have a copy you're not using?
