Help protect over 500 acres of natural land and wildlife habitat in Pottawattamie and Mills counties.
Spanning nearly two miles of the Loess Hills National Scenic Byway, Green Hill Ranch is a classic example of Loess Hills topography—rolling hills of oak savanna, remnant prairie and grassland. Once fundraising is complete, this 506-acre property will become public natural land—an escape from the city and a haven for birdwatchers, hunters and hikers.
Management and Restoration:
Green Hill Ranch is jointly owned by INHF and The Nature Conservancy, but will eventually transfer to the Iowa DNR to become a public natural area. Adjacent to TNC-owned Folsom Point Preserve, Green Hill Ranch increases wildlife habitat for the eight species of endangered or threatened butterfly, reptile and mammal that live there, creating nearly 800 acres of habitat.
