Conservation Corps of Iowa (CCI) is looking for a Field Crew Leader and Crew Members to join their team in Ames and Council Bluffs. These members will learn natural resource management skills and apply them to conservation projects across Iowa.
A few of these skills include tree planting, invasive species management, timber stand improvement, stream bank stabilization/erosion control, prescribed burning, trail construction & maintenance, wildlife habitat improvement, wildland fire fighting and emergency response.
Requirements: Must be 18-25 years old and be able to perform essential functions of the job including physically strenuous work 40 hours per week. Typical service week is Monday through Thursday (10 hours each day) with other days scheduled as required.
INHF has partnered with the Conservation Corps for the past few years to help with prescribed fire and invasive species removal on some of INHF’s properties. This year, INHF and other partners are expanding the program and will be hiring a CCI crew dedicated to the Loess Hills counties of western Iowa.
“This is a new partnership and we are really excited about it! Great ecological restoration will be completed by the CCI crew and their efforts will further the common mission of all involved,” said Erin Van Waus, INHF Land Stewardship Director.
