Apply Now: INHF Communications & Design summer internships
This summer, join the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation’s communications team. Two applicants will be selected to become our new graphic design and communications interns, working on media and design projects to help promote INHF’s work and mission. Applications for both internships are due Friday, Feb. 28.
Test the waters in all aspects of communications — magazine writing, press releases, photography, social media, websites, blogs and more — with Iowa’s leading natural conservation organization.
The communications intern writes news releases and magazine articles about INHF projects, assists with special events (like our annual Hagie Heritage Award), writes blog posts, updates our website and social media, and much more. Depending on organizational needs and intern skills, he/she may also assist with public events, photography and occasional graphic design.

GRAPHIC DESIGN INTERNSHIP
Our graphic design intern designs the INHF calendar, brochures, invitations, ads and many other items. This intern also maintains and improves INHF’s website and helps out with photography selection, editing and management. Depending on skills and interest, other communications/PR work may be assigned.
This position usually goes to graphic design majors, journalism majors with visual design specialty or others with strong design/web design experience and coursework.

There is a preference for applicants who can take the positions for more than one semester, but one-semester applicants are also considered. Communications and Design interns work in our downtown Des Moines office and must have their own transportation to and from work. Interns should be able to work a minimum of 12 hours/week during the spring and fall semesters and 35-40 hours/week during the summer. Both positions are paid at $9.50/hour.
If you have any questions, contact Laura Johnson by email or at 515-288-1846.
Note: INHF’s internship program is limited to college undergraduates or graduate students who are either from Iowa or attending an Iowa college. If you have questions about your eligibility, please contact us before submitting an application.
