INHF hosts volunteer event for Nationwide Volunteer Team

Last Wednesday, employees from Nationwide Insurance joined with Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation for a volunteer event at Razor Prairie* in Jasper County near Bondurant, Iowa.

The team of twelve volunteers from Nationwide, along with four INHF staff members and two former INHF land stewardship interns removed brush from hillsides. The group worked from 1 – 4:30 p.m. on the hottest day of the week, which reached 94 degrees! They made considerable progress toward the day's goal of connecting two hillside prairies.

“I'm impressed with the can-do attitude of these volunteers,” said Mary Runkel, INHF volunteer coordinator. “I'd like to thank the Nationwide volunteers for working so hard on such a hot day.”

Check out some photos from the day to see the groups' hardwork!

*Razor Prairie is one of several sites that were donated to INHF or acquired for our long-term management and restoration. There is no public use of these sites, but we occasionally host educational tours or volunteer workdays at land we own. When available, those opportunities are posted on the Events section of the INHF website.
