Now Hiring: Land Stewardship Assistant
The Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation is looking for a hands-on, motivated individual to assist our land stewardship staff in the incredible work they do across the state.
The Land Stewardship Assistant supports INHF and its land stewardship program by working to restore and protect native prairie, oak savanna, woodland, wetland, fragile natural areas, trout streams, trails, and additions to public conservation and recreation areas. This new, full-time position reports directly to the Land Stewardship Director and works closely with other team members. This is a rare opportunity to join our loyal staff of 20 committed people.
- Assist all aspects of hands-on management of natural areas throughout the state of Iowa, including INHF-owned land, private land and public land. This includes the supervision of 8-10 college-aged students in the months of May, June, July and August.
- Assist with the on-the-ground monitoring of the 110 INHF-held conservation easements throughout the state, including landowner contact/interaction, report writing and follow-up.
- Serve as an essential part of the INHF support team to ensure solid systems and documentation. This includes file management, office support and back-up for INHF reception and support services.
The Land Stewardship Assistant must be well-organized, professional, punctual, motivated, and able to work independently, effectively and dependably with a wide variety of people, including volunteers. This person needs to be able to organize information, budget time, meet deadlines and track progress on numerous simultaneous projects.
