Spring Into Action (Des Moines)

Join Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, Polk County Conservation and Blank Park Zoo for Spring Into Action, a morning of land stewardship and community at Fort Des Moines park. Volunteers will help hand-pull garlic mustard and other invasive non-native plants from Fort Des Moines Park's woodlands. Garlic mustard spreads rapidly and displaces native plants and wildflowers. If left unchecked, it can do serious damage to wooded landscapes. After the event, organizers will take the recently removed plants to Blank Park Zoo where they will be used as tasty treats for the animals.

An RSVP is required. Space is limited. Please arrive early to park and check-in.
