Join Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation for a winter work day in the Loess Hills. We'll spend a couple hours at the Lebredo/Rose property removing unwanted brush to help the property's native prairie thrive. Please arrive early to park and check-in.
Invasive brush removal involves using various hand tools (loppers and bowsaws) to manually cut unwanted brush.
No experience necessary. Instruction will be provided. All equipment will be provided.
An RSVP is requested.
ABOUT THE LEBREDO/ROSE PROPERTY
The Rose/Lebredo property is a privately owned property containing 60 acres of native remnant prairie, woodland, and mixed pasture along the northern boundary of Stone State Park. Owners Ruth Rose and Luis Lebredo donated a conservation easement to INHF in 2018 permanently protecting the property. The landowners have done a tremendous job of stewarding the property, however, the prairie remnants are currently being invaded by undesirable woody vegetation (bush honeysuckle, autumn olive, dogwood, sumac). The Rose/Lebredo family has been active in other local stewardship efforts in the area and appreciate anyone willing to lend a hand to help ensure this native prairie thrives.
