2022 GRASS & Loess Hills Prairie Seminar

Great Race Against Shrubs and Shade

Join Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the Nature Conservancy in Iowa in the Loess Hills for one of the largest land restoration days in the state. Together, we'll remove cedars to help keep the Loess Hills hillside prairies healthy and thriving. Make a weekend of it and stay for the annual Loess Hills Prairie Seminar, an annual event aimed at connecting people with this unique landscape.

Please note: This event is not for the faint of heart. The terrain is steep and uneven, and the work is intense.

No RSVP necessary - just show up!

Please bring:
  • Water bottle
  • Sturdy boots or shoes, long pants and clothes you don't mind getting dirty
  • Helmet, gloves, loppers, safety glasses, ear plugs and sunscreen - if you have them (we will have a few extras)
Details:
  • No experience necessary
  • This is one of our more intense work days. Terrain can be steep and uneven. Not recommended for children under 10.
  • You will be asked to sign a liability waiver.
