Nature Walk: Soldier Beetle

We usually think of bees and butterflies as the major pollinators, however, there is an entire world of other insects such as moths, beetles, and flies, which pollinate flowers. Some are keyed to the flowers of a specific species thus their emergence is timed to a particular blooming period. While soldier beetle are widespread they seem to play a major role in pollinating the tiny flowers of northern bedstraw.
