At the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation we’re passionate about preserving our natural resources and restoring Iowa’s beautiful outdoor spaces. So when we find like-minded groups and individuals, we can’t help but spread the word.

On Wednesday, Sept. 12 the Des Moines Register published a front-page article, entitled “From farmland to wonderland,” detailing the restoration efforts taking place at Chichaqua Bottoms Greenbelt, roughly 25 miles east of Des Moines in Polk County.

The article tells the story of Loren Lown, a full-time natural resource specialist at Polk County Conservation, who spent over 20 years helping restore Chichaqua. Read the full article and learn more about the great work your county conservation board does here.
