Exploring Iowa: Ledges State Park

Posted on October 19, 2012 at 10:00 AM by Lexi Ruskell

Just an hour northwest of Des Moines you will find one of Iowa’s most popular and history-rich state parks.

Can you guess which fantastic outdoor area we’re talking about?

The answer is Ledges State Park, which became one of Iowa’s first state parks in 1924.

This gorgeous natural area was featured on Midwest Living’s “15 Favorite Midwest Getaways.”

Spend a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of daily life to enjoy the phenomenal blend of fall colors that this Iowa treasure has to offer.
