Nature Walk: Ring-Necked Pheasant

Posted on December 3, 2012 at 10:00 AM by Taylor Eisenhauer

Male ring-necked pheasants have nearly every color feather in the spectrum. Their body plumage is an iridescent blend of bronze hues and bluish greens with contrasting lines, barring and blotches. With such striking colors it is hard to imagine that one can watch them walk into a short grassy field or roadside only to disappear without a trace.

Happy Monday! We hope that this morning’s nature walk brought a splash of color to an otherwise grey winter day.
