Nature Walk: White-tailed Buck

Posted on December 17, 2012 at 10:00 AM by Taylor Eisenhauer

One of the common messages of the Advent season is, “Be watchful, be alert you do not know when the time will come. ” If you are a handsome white-tailed buck this is your motto throughout the hunting season. Bucks with large racks of antlers are both wise and wary. They likely spend the daylight hours bedded down in tall vegetation away from traveled roads. Should danger approach they may lie flat on the ground to keep from being detected.

On this chilly morning’s Nature Walk we hope that you’ll enjoy this majestic buck’s impressive antlers as much as we do. What’re some of your favorite Iowa animals?
