Snowshoe Hiking - Saturday, January 19

Take the day off and enjoy a beautiful snowshoeing adventure through the gorgeous Loess hills. Join Pottawattamie County Conservation staff at the Loess Hills Lodge – weather permitting – for a guided hike through one of Iowa’s most picturesque winter wonderlands.

Hikes will begin at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., and are open to anyone ages 12 and older. Cost of the event is $5 per person and includes a guided hike, refreshments and snowshoe rental.

Pre-registration and pre-payment for the event are required by Friday, January 18th as space is limited. To register, call (712) 242-1197.

KinderNature: Deer Detectives – Sunday, January 20

Join Pottowattamie County Conservation from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. to learn about one of Iowa’s most common critters. Learn about deer’s antlers, tail signals and how they stay hidden from predators. This event is designed for children between the ages of three and five years old.

The program will be hosted at the Hitchcock Nature Center, 27792 Ski Hill Loop, and costs $5 per child. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
