Nature Walk: House Finch

Birds often remain motionless in heavy cover for protection. In this case, one wonders if this house finch realized just how much cover was present. It seemed to think it was invisible and safe behind those little branches on the edge of a wild plum thicket. Once its companions flew, however, it was off in a flash – there is also safety in numbers.

Birds of a feather flock together! What seasonal birds have you spotted lately in your area?
