Nature Walk: Venus & the Moon

On an early Monday morning, before sunrise, the waning crescent moon was close to Venus. Just seven days later, a waxing crescent made its appearance after sunset in the west. Since the moon rises approximately one hour later each day, 14 days after the waxing crescent we can see a full moon in the east at sunset.

Winter is a great time to look to the clear night skies in search of endless celestial beauty. Where’s your favorite Iowa place to gaze at the stars?
