Ashton Outdoor Adventure

Do you know how to survive in the outdoors?

You can put your outdoor skills to the test at the Ashton Outdoor Adventure starting at 3 p.m. on August 24, 2013.In teams, participants will compete in casting, fish tackle and cleaning, survival, orienteering, archery and knowledge of Iowa hunting regulations at Ashton Wildwood Park in Mingo, Iowa.

To participate in the event, teams of at least three people ages eight and older should register with the Jasper County Conservation Department. The fee is $5 per team, and each team must choose a name and color.

Following the outdoor skills competition, the Des Moines Astronomical Society will provide hotdogs for dinner. Individuals are invited to stay for an astronomy presentation and stargazing.
