Iowa Young Birders have four fun Saturday morning field trips planned for this fall!

Young birders, ages 8-18, are invited to participate in any of the free events held around the state. The Iowa Young Birders field trips will be on Oct.12 in Clinton; Oct. 19 in Saylorville Reservoir in Polk County; Nov. 2 in Council Bluffs and Nov. 16 in Pleasant Creek Lake near Cedar Rapids. Parents are encouraged to attend and enjoy these learning opportunities, too!

Iowa Young Birders is a new not-for-profit organization founded to encourage young Iowans to study and enjoy birds and connect with other young birders from around the state. More than 160 young birders have participated in monthly field trips in 12 different Iowa counties since July 2012.  Field trips in 2013 are supported by a REAP grant that is also being used develop and test a field trip model for young birders.

To participate in the field trips, advanced registration with the Iowa Young Birders is required. Instructions for registration can be found on the Iowa Young Birders' website.

For more information about the events and non-profit, contact Carl Bendorf, Executive Director of Iowa Young Birders, at 319-333-9667 or carl@iowayoungbirders.org.
