Nature Walk: Young Buck

Posted on November 18, 2013 at 10:00 AM by Taylor Eisenhauer

For this handsome young whitetail buck backlit in early morning light, looking back is a good idea in the peak of the rutting season. He might find an opportunity to mate with a doe, but it is more likely that an old stag wants to run him out of the territory. Young bucks will be on high alert for perhaps a month or more. If they are lucky enough to survive the hunting season, the next year will present more opportunities.

Where have you seen deer this fall? Were they bucks, stags or doe?
