Weekend ice fishing

Posted on January 10, 2014 at 10:00 AM by Kerri Sorrell

This weekend, take advantage of above-zero temperatures and try a new winter activity: ice fishing! Polk County Conservation is hosting an Ice Fishing Clinic this Saturday at Jester Park, noon – 3 p.m.

At the clinic, you’ll learn the basics of ice fishing as well as get some hands-on experience. Poles and bait will be provided, and anyone over the age of 16 will need a legal fishing license. It’s suggested that you bring something to sit on.

Don’t forget: Be sure to dress warm! Layers, wind-resistant clothing and proper footwear are important while out on the ice.

Check the Polk County Conservation website for more information about the event and for maps & directions.

Angle away!
