Red Fox winter hunts

The red fox (Vulpes vulpes) is one of the most common species in North America, with a high concentration in the central plains. Even in the cold, midwest mammals still venture out to hunt their next meal. Red foxes roam out early in the morning in pursuit of small rodents, listening carefully for the scamper of their prey. When they hear it, it’s go time. The fox leaps up into the air, ready to land on their pursued meal. In the winter time, it certainly makes for an entertaining show:
