Nature Walk: Altocumulus Clouds

Posted on September 22, 2014 at 10:00 AM by Taylor Eisenhauer

Altocumulus clouds

“Altocumulus clouds are tiny cumulus clouds that form a repeating pattern over a widespread area of the sky. They are the most dramatic when they occur at sunset. You can see in this image they may be followed by or mixed with other types of clouds. They occur at a mid-level in the atmosphere and are sometimes called cloudlets.” – Carl Kurtz
