Nature Walk: Woodland Edges

Posted on November 5, 2014 at 10:00 AM by Taylor Eisenhauer

Woodland Edges

“Woodlands gradually grow in size as species such as smooth sumac move outward into prairie edges and trees such as black cherries are planted by birds. Sumac will gradually be replaced by larger and more shade tolerant trees such as oaks, elms and maples and the forest will increase in size.” -Carl Kurtz
